Herstory was made in the all-knowing halls of the South African Women's Parliament on Thursday 29 August when women from all over South Africa took over the National Assembly and were addressed as Honourable Members as they debated gender-based violence and celebrated the Women's Charter.

The purpose of the meeting is to strategise for building the survivor movement and to ensure that survivor voices are heard and taken into account in the debate on legal reform of adult prostitution.
During January 2018, 20 year-old Siam Lee went missing from what is believed to be a brothel in Durban North. Her charred body was discovered two days later on a farm in New Hanover.
